West Coast Ports Issue Guidance on Container Weighing Services

In preparation for container weight verification rules that take effect July 1, terminal operators at the Ports of Los Angeles/Long Beach and the Port of Oakland have issued more details on container weighing services available to exporters. The West Coast Terminal Operators Association and the Oakland Maritime Terminal Operators Association say they will continue to weigh container units and will pass these results on to shipping lines, but it is up to the shipping lines whether or not to accept the information provided.

More details are available from Journal of Commerce and American Shipper (log-ins required).
