With two weeks remaining in the first quarter of the quota year, the European Union’s duty-free high-quality beef quota has seen a recent increase in utilization. Available capacity for the July-September quarter is 12,050 mt. Through Sept. 15, the volume cleared stood at 10,566 mt with another 322 mt awaiting clearance. At its current pace, the quarterly allocation could reach full capacity around Sept. 24 or 25. Another 12,050 mt of capacity will become available to importers when the new quarter begins Oct. 1.
