U.S. Beef, Pork Exports Trend Lower

Weekly US Beef Exports

U.S. beef exports for the week of March 14-20 totaled 11,600 mt, down 9 percent from the previous four-week average. Exports were mainly for Japan (3,100 mt, -17 percent), Hong Kong (2,400 mt, +14 percent), Mexico (2,000 mt, -12 percent), South Korea (1,800 mt, -10 percent), Taiwan (800 mt, +13 percent) and Canada (695 mt, -32 percent).

Weekly US Beef Sales

Beef net sales of 13,300 mt were down 6 percent from the previous four-week average with larger sales for Mexico (3,200 mt, +113 percent) and Korea (3,000 mt, +49 percent) offset by smaller volumes for Japan (3,300 mt, -27 percent) and Hong Kong (2,400 mt, -32 percent).

U.S. pork exports totaled 10,600 mt, down 4 percent from the previous four-week average. Exports were primarily to Mexico (3,700 mt), Korea (1,700 mt), Japan (1,300 mt), Hong Kong (1,000 mt) and Canada (800 mt).

Pork net sales of 6,600 mt were down 24 percent from the previous four-week average and were mainly for Mexico (3,400 mt), Canada (1,100 mt), Japan (700 mt), Korea (400 mt), and Hong Kong (300 mt).
