The FY 2016 Senate Ag Appropriations bill cleared two important stages of debate this week. On July 14 the Senate Agriculture Appropriations Subcommittee approved a version of the bill that includes full funding for the USDA Market Access Program ($200 million) and Foreign Market Development (FMD) program ($34.5 million), as authorized by the Farm Bill. On July 16, the bill received approval by the full Senate Appropriations Committee, with full funding for these programs remaining in place.
The House Ag Appropriations bill, which was approved last week by the House Appropriations Committee, also includes full funding for these programs. It is not yet clear when these bills will be debated by the full House or Senate.
