TITLE: | Regionalization/Compartmentalization of Animal Diseases |
WHEREAS, | Allowing the importation of animals and their products from areas considered posing a low disease or pest risk has been shown to pose a low risk to domestic production; and |
WHEREAS, | Regionalization now is practiced by certain countries where there is an export market; and |
WHEREAS, | Current APHIS risk analysis is science-based and transparent; and |
WHEREAS, | Regionalization of animal diseases in the U.S. could prevent a total loss and/or long-term damage to our export markets, |
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, | USMEF will support USDA efforts to seek international acceptance of the regionalization/compartmentalization of animal diseases and abide by international guidelines. |
