Published: Jul 04, 2026

USMEF brought a team of 11 importers from Hong Kong to the U.S. to learn about beef and pork production, meet with suppliers and experience the versatility of top-quality U.S. beef and pork at a variety of restaurants.

USMEF Hong Kong Senior Marketing Manager Tonia Lai and Retail Manager Reese Liu led the team to Chicago where they visited nearby Trim-Rite Foods before meeting with National Beef at Remington’s Restaurant. The team also enjoyed dinner at Rosebud Steakhouse, which serves Meats by Linz, a USMEF member.

In Nebraska, the team toured the Wholestone Prestage plant in Freemont before visiting a small cow-calf operation and a feedyard in West Point. They also toured the Tyson Foods plant in Madison and the JBS plant in Grand Island.

Dave Bruntz, USMEF chair-elect, and Ann Bruntz joined the team for a farewell dinner at 801 Chophouse in Omaha.

The trade team was made possible through the Beef Checkoff Program and the National Pork Board.

A team of importers from Hong Kong visited Harry Knobbe Feedyards in West Point, Neb., where they learned how grain feeding programs contribute to consistency, quality and marbling in U.S. beef.
