Innovative Cooking Series Finishes Third Season in Korea

USMEF-Korea is finding new viewers for recipes featuring U.S. beef and pork in a creative turn from traditional cooking shows and videos

An original content cooking series developed by USMEF for YouTube in Korea is earning a growing audience interested in learning how to cook popular dishes with U.S. beef and pork. Cookflix introduces and demonstrates recipes of red meat-based dishes served on popular entertainment programming in movies, television and streaming services.

Season one of Cookflix promoted recipes that appeared in American media such as Friends, Home Alone and Big Bang Theory. The recipe lineup was broadened in season two to include international media while season three focused on red meat dishes that had appeared in popular Korean dramas. The six, short-form videos created for season three, each from 2:30 to 3:30 in length, generated nearly 500,000 views.

U.S. beef and pork cuts featured in recipes during season three were: Smithfield chopped ham and beef clod, Oscar Mayer bacon, Boston butt and single-ribbed belly, beef center of heel and boiled pork, beef striploin and porterhouse steak. Funding for season three was provided by the Beef Checkoff Program, National Pork Board and USDA’s Market Access Program and Agricultural Trade Promotion Program.

The first episode of season three featured a Korean dish, ham and beef gimbap, from a popular Korean drama called Extraordinary Attorney Woo. The primary ingredients in the recipe are beef clod and Smithfield chopped ham. See video: Views of the cooking episode reached 92,272.
