Economic Analysis of the USMEF’s Export Market Development Programs

Published: Jun 15, 2018

Dr. Harry M. Kaiser of Cornell University recently conducted an economic analysis of USMEF’s export market development programs. The three objectives of this study were to: (1) quantify the return to the U.S. government and to beef, pork, corn, and soybean producers on their investment in USMEF’s export market development programs; (2) quantify the contribution of USMEF’s export market development programs to the growth in beef and pork exports that has occurred over the past decade; and (3) quantify the broader macroeconomic impacts of USMEF’s export market development programs on employment, employment income, value-added, tax revenue, and contributions to U.S. gross domestic product.

An executive summary and Dr. Kaiser’s full report are now available online. If you have questions, please email Greg Hanes or call 303-623-6328.
