The European Union and Mexico are launching efforts to “modernize and broaden the scope” of their 1997 trade agreement.

Following a May 30 meeting between EU Trade Commissioner Cecilia Malmström and Ildefonso Guajardo Villarreal, Mexico’s Secretary of Economy, the European Commission announced in a news release that the first round of negotiations will be held in June.
