Key Topic – Full Beef Access to Colombia and Peru
In early January 2016, Colombia lifted its BSE-related restrictions on U.S. beef. Bone-in cuts are now allowed and restrictions on meat derived from Canadian direct-slaughter cattle no longer apply. The export verification (EV) program was eliminated, lowering costs for exporters serving this market. On March 14, these same changes were announced for U.S. beef destined for Peru. The necessary changes to the FSIS Export Library for Peru were posted on March 16.
