Details emerged this week regarding the timeline for ratification of the tentative West Coast port labor contract agreement reached last month between the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) and the Pacific Maritime Association (PMA).
ILWU delegates will meet in San Francisco the week of March 30 to evaluate the contract agreement. If these 90 delegates recommend approval of the contract, a vote of the full ILWU membership will be conducted by secret ballot in April. If the delegates recommend rejection of the contract, ILWU and PMA must return to the negotiating table. USMEF will report further details on the ratification process as more information becomes available.
