Update on Russia’s Actions on Beta Agonists
Russia’s Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance Service (VPSS) has officially announced its suspension of casings imports from Brazil, due to findings of beta agonist residues. In addition, imports of all meat products from one Brazilian plant have been suspended and three other plants have been placed under enhanced control. VPSS also announced findings of beta agonist residues in casings from a U.S. plant (likely shipped prior to the blanket suspension on U.S. shipments), a pork shipment from Canada and a beef liver shipment from Argentina.
