The agricultural trade policy debate between U.S. and European Union officials became more heated this week as exchanges on the issue surfaced in the media. In a May 25 letter, U.S. Ambassador to the EU Anthony Gardner expressed particular frustration with statements made by EU Agriculture Commissioner Phil Hogan, which he maintained are misleading and unproductive as the two sides attempt to make progress in the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) negotiations.
In response, the European Commission issued this email to ambassadors from the 28 EU member states.
