USTR Releases National Trade Estimate Report

This week the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) issued its 2015 National Trade Estimate Report, detailing trade barriers faced by U.S. exports and USTR’s efforts to reduce them.

Issues highlighted in this USTR news release and this fact sheet related to red meat exports include the recently lifted cattle age and product restrictions for beef exports to Vietnam (click here for more details), resumption of pork exports to Malaysia, proposed beef grading restrictions in Chile, import licensing requirements for beef and pork in Ecuador and limited access for U.S. beef in Indonesia.

The full report also addresses a range of agricultural trade barriers in China and Russia, Taiwan’s restrictions on beef offals and ractopamine use in pork, sanitary and phytosanitary restrictions imposed by the EU and expanded access to the EU’s duty-free beef quota for non-U.S. suppliers.
