USTR Holds Hearing on South Africa’s AGOA Compliance

When Congress agreed to renew the African Growth and Opportunities Act (AGOA) earlier this summer, one of the conditions was that USTR would conduct an “out-of-cycle” review on South Africa’s eligibility to receive AGOA benefits, examining the degree to which South Africa is complying with its trade obligations. As part of this review, USTR held an Aug. 7 hearing to receive public comments, including input from industries interested in exporting products to South Africa.
