U.S. pork and beef were recently showcased at the Japan Foodservice Association trade show in Tokyo. The association has more than 600 member companies, and its trade show is the largest industry event in Japan dedicated solely to the foodservice sector. USMEF’s participation was funded by the USDA Market Access Program (MAP).

More than 2,000 industry professionals were in attendance, along with nearly 100 exhibitors. Pork products on display at the USMEF booth included picnic and CT butt. Featured beef items included short loins and T-bone steaks.

“With Japan being the leading value market for both U.S. pork and beef, it is obviously very important for the U.S. industry to have strong customer contacts within the foodservice sector,” said Takemichi Yamashoji, USMEF senior marketing director in Japan. “Working with members of the Japan Foodservice Association is a great way to promote the quality and advantages of U.S. pork and beef products with everyone from top executives to product managers.”

Yamashoji and his team were on hand to answer questions from visitors to the USMEF booth, and to offer creative menu development ideas and merchandising suggestions.
