Mark your calendar for the USMEF 40th Anniversary and Strategic Planning Conference, set for Nov. 2-4 at the Park Hyatt Aviara in Carlsbad, California.

Scott Aughenbaugh, deputy director of Strategic Futures at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) will keynote the Nov. 2 opening general session. His presentation, “Seven Revolutions: Scanning the Horizon Out to the Year 2035 and Beyond.” will focus on 7 key areas: demographics, resource management, computing, data/information growth, social media, effects of economic integration and emerging security challenges to forecast global trends.

James McKenna, president and CEO of the Pacific Maritime Association (PMA) will present during the Nov. 3 general session. He will discuss measures taken by West Coast ports in order to recover from the backlog of 2014-2015, and PMA’s strategies for ensuring smooth port operations in the future.
