New Zealand Ambassador Visits USMEF

Michael Moore, New Zealand ambassador to the United States, meets with USMEF President and CEO Philip Seng

USMEF was honored to host Michael Moore, New Zealand Ambassador to the United States, for a meeting at its Denver headquarters this week. Moore is a former prime minister of New Zealand who also served as director-general of the World Trade Organization (WTO) from 1999 to 2002. He was accompanied on his visit by Dr. Janine Collier, first secretary of trade and agriculture for the New Zealand Embassy in Washington, D.C., and Brent Boyston, vice president of public policy for the Colorado Farm Bureau.

Moore met with USMEF President and CEO Philip Seng and other senior staff members to discuss the ongoing Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) negotiations, the current state of the WTO and other key issues related to global agricultural trade.

“Ambassador Moore has a wealth of knowledge on global trade issues,” said Seng. “It was very interesting to get his perspective on the current trade outlook, specifically with regard to the TPP negotiations and ways that our countries can work together to eliminate trade barriers.”

Moore was in Colorado to serve as keynote speaker at the annual meeting of the Colorado Farm Bureau and made time to visit USMEF during his stop in Denver.
