More Details Expected Soon on China Reopening to Brazilian Beef

While several news outlets reported this week that China is reopening to imports of Brazilian beef, official notice has not yet been posted by the Chinese government.

USMEF’s understanding is that Brazil’s exports to China will be limited (at least initially) to frozen, boneless cuts derived from cattle less than 30 months of age, sourced from the eight Brazilian beef plants that were eligible for China when the market closed in 2012. We expect more information to be available soon, and will provide further details at that time.
