Mexico Extends Compliance Deadline for Organic Food Regulations

On May 8, the Government of Mexico officially published an extension – through Oct. 29, 2016 – of the deadline for compliance with its organic food regulations.

As a result of this extension, products certified as organic under the U.S. National Organic Program (NOP) can continue to be exported to Mexico and sold as organic. The extension also gives the U.S. and Mexican governments additional time to complete an organic equivalency agreement. More details on this issue are included in this FAS GAIN Report.
