Key Topic – Israel Beef Access

On Jan. 13, 2016, Israel reopened to U.S. beef for the first time since the December 2003 BSE case. Although Israel imposes very strict kosher slaughter and handling requirements on its beef suppliers, the market could present opportunities for some U.S. companies.

UPDATE: The initial market reopening was only for frozen U.S. beef, but effective July 18, 2016, Israel also began accepting chilled U.S. beef.
