Key Topic – Costa Rica Removes Packing Date Restrictions

For many years, Costa Rica had required that shipments of fresh beef and pork from the United States must arrive no more than nine days from the packing date. Frozen beef and pork had to arrive within six months of its packing date. Costa Rica recently removed both of these requirements. The nine-day maximum for fresh meat was especially problematic, and its removal should benefit exporters serving this market.
