Customs Enforcement Bill Clears Senate

On Feb. 11, the U.S. Senate approved the conference report on H.R. 644, the customs enforcement bill, on a 70-25 vote. The conference report was approved by the House of Representatives late last year, so the bill now goes to President Obama for his signature.

H.R. 644 includes a provision related to U.S. retaliatory duties in the long-running dispute with the European Union on the use of hormones in beef production. More details on the bill are available from the Senate Finance Committee website.
