Caution Regarding Country-of-Origin Labeling Enforcement in the Caribbean

Exporters serving the Caribbean should be aware of country-of-origin-labeling enforcement in certain Caribbean Community and Common Market (CARICOM) countries.

Under the CARICOM regional standard, country-of-origin is to be declared on the box and on case ready/prepackaged labels of all imported meat and meat products. So the country-of-origin should also be included on the label, either in the address line or as a separate statement on the label, such as “Product of USA” or “Made in USA.”

More details on these requirements are available online. Exporters with questions may email Cheyenne McEndaffer or call 303-623-6328.
