Expanded U.S. Beef Exports To Russia Await Movement Abroad

Recent changes in Russia’s import rules make that country a better potential market for U.S. beef. But it won’t be a quick return to normal, according to John Brook, regional director of Europe, Russia and the Middle East for the U.S. Meat Export Federation.

Cut #1   :21         "The Russian ban… ..make their inspections."

Brook says things could have gone more smoothly.

Cut #2     :25         "Obviously, it’s a big… ...the end of the year."

And  the reopening of the market is still up in the air

Cut #3   :16         "There’s no date… ...by September-time."

Brook says it’s important to recapture the Russian market.

Cut #4   :39         "Russia was… ...before the ban."

The U.S. Meat Export Federation is the trade association responsible for developing international markets for the U.S. red meat industry and is funded by USDA, exporting companies, and the beef, pork, lamb, corn, sorghum and soybean checkoff programs.
