That, according to U.S. Meat Export Federation Chair Dennis Erpelding, who told U.S. producers at the Cattle Industry Convention in Nashvillelast week that it takes both the domestic and international markets to fully realize an animal’s full potential.

Erpelding says that when it comes to international markets, both variety meats and high quality meats play a role for the cattle industry.

Erpelding, who is corporate affairs manager for Elanco Animal Health, spoke to members of the cattle industry’s Joint International Committee at the 2007 Cattle Industry Convention in Nashville, Tenn. on Friday, Feb. 2.
The U.S. Meat Export Federation is the trade association responsible for developing international markets for the U.S. red meat industry. It is funded by USDA, exporting companies, and the beef, pork, lamb, corn, sorghum and soybean checkoff programs.
