USMEF Efforts Bring Beef to Islands
Recent efforts by USMEF are helping to increase beef purchases in the Caribbean islands.

Thanks to the 2006 chef competition in Mexico last August, for instance, an upcoming “iron man” competition by Butterfield & Vallis in Bermuda will feature center cut top sirloin and flat iron in the company’s mystery basket for competitors.

Meanwhile, Bryden’s, a major wholesale distributor in the Caribbean, featured U.S. beef at its food show Feb. 15-16. The move was based on contact at the Americas Food & Beverage Show in Miami Beach last November, as well as a USMEF visit to Bryden’s. The Americas Food & Beverage Show features more than 395 exhibitors from 28 countries who produce more than 5,000 products.
